To be promoted to London 3 was a great achievement, to be sitting top of the league ay Christmas is nothing short of remarkable. A lot of work goes unseen and to all our sponsors, supporters and helpers a huge thank you. The super 2's managed by Anthony Redmon, lead as always by Aidan Power, have gone up two leagues and still find themselves challenging in their merit table. New coach Mike Head has been delighted with the effort shown from the lads and is confident that with good availability the side can push on to even greater things in the new year.
Mitch Hammond and Marius von Moltke have new ventures in the new year and will be sorely missed, both have been outstanding players for the club - I am sure they will be back in the future. The physicality of the league above has certainly taken its toll with injuries and only two players have been ever present this year. I am hopeful that the new year will see everyone back to full fitness. Many of the lads have played with injuries and at one point we had both vice captains and captain unavailable and still managed an away win which shows the squads ability to adapt to difficult situations.
The club will continue to train at StoneX stadium in the new year on Wednesdays and hopefully we can attract a couple of new players in the new year.
Anyone keen to play or join can contact Liam at play@hendonrugby.com. A couple more players would certainly help us cement our position in the league.
Finally a personal thanks to Cian Hynes, Mike Culhane, Luke Pollard and all the leadership team for all their work on the pitch - Liam Murphy, Jim Dickin and Dennis Connolly for the work with managing and training the squad.
What the new year holds we will have to wait and see, whatever happens Hendon RFC will be ready and raring to go in the new year.
