RFU Counties League 2 Herts/Middlesex

Harrow RFC 19 points    Hendon RFC 36 points

Hendon had all the initial possession as Harrow defended and it wasn’t long before a Hendon penalty kick to touch on the Harrow 22 saw the visitors set up a maul with scrum half Max Treharne slipping a pass to Jack Ryan on the burst to score the first try converted by Cian Hynes 0-7.

Hendon returned and within minutes Chris Kiyingi crashed over for Hendon’s next points with Hynes converting to go 0-14 ahead after just 15 minutes.

Harrow then responded and an attacking move into the Hendon 22 resulted in Kiyingi turning over a maul and then pass to Ryan who kicked from defence with JP Cremin running through to collect  to set up Treharne to run to score out wide and push the score to 0-19.

However, then Hendon relaxed allowing the home outfit to take control with their young backline running in two well worked converted tries to close the score line to 14-19 before the halftime break.

Into the second period, Hendon’s forwards with Roddy Walsh and Captain Nick Andrews excelling were once again camped on the Harrow 22. Following a line out a kick from defence by Harrow was charged down by hooker Nick Pope who regathered and keeping possession scored Hendon’s next try in the corner 14-24 giving the visitors a League Bonus point.

Then midway through the half another fine carry by Andrews from halfway to the Harrow 22 passing to TJ O’Sullivan to crash through the defence in the opposite corner and Hendon stretched their lead to 14-29. Harrow then came back after 25 minutes as a long kick from defence by Hendon was gathered by the Harrow fullback. A sprint through Hendon’s defence, set up a maul for Harrow to drive over for their 3rd try 19-29.

Harrow now saw the possibility of another try with a similar move to the Hendon 5 metre line but Hendon’s defence held true giving Dragos Ciocan the opportunity to set up a further attack with a long kick to the Harrow 22. Hendon were awarded a penalty scrum with Treharne sending  Hynes down the blind side with replacement wing Robert Nunez in support to go over for the last Hynes converted try at 19 -36.

After this result Hendon are fifth placed in the League level on points with Wasps FC but with a game in hand.
