Wasps FC 52 - 21 Hendon RFC

Wasps benefit from a fast start on their 4G artificial pitch

With just 20 minutes on the clock Hendon had already conceded three tries before they had put together an attacking move. But that first  Hendon backline move was intercepted in the Wasps 22 for the runaway 4th try to push them 24-0 into the lead.

However, Hendon were still positive and from the next move from the restart as the defender was brought down by Rossa Dooley to set up a forwards maul No8 Chris Kiyingi crashed over the line for Hendon’s first try which despite being out wide was converted by Cian Hynes.

As the game progressed Hendon were now on the front foot with Kiyingi touching down for his 2nd score on 25 minutes with a superb run down the middle from the Wasps 22; Hynes duly obliged with the conversion to take the score to 24-14 at half time.

The opening 10 minutes of the second period saw Wasps again take advantage of a scrambled Hendon defence inside their own territory allowing two further scores and Wasps were now ahead  38-14.

Nick Andrews ( Captain) , back from injury took a final pass from an attacking backline move orchestrated by Rob Casey but was sadly held up over the line. Kicking from defence Wasps again took the advantage and a training book move saw them score in the corner.

Play then settled in mid-field with Wasps being caught offside allowing Hynes to set up the next score with a long kick to touch giving the Hendon backline a move from the line-out finished by Kiyingi  with another try and his hattrick converted by Hynes  to claw back to 45-21.

Hendon now put everything into attack but with a backline move looking like Hendon's bonus point fourth try was not to be with Wasps again intercepting to finish off Hendon’s miserable and cold day on 52-21.
