After a long week of trying to confirm the game and indeed a venue, Hendon finally managed to play this rearranged game against Verulamians.
However, the home outfit could not field a front row which meant that the game was conceded before the kick off and a friendly game was played with Hendon being awarded the 5 league points .
With a much changed side, Hendon played up the hill moving the point of attack and finding space, it did not take time for the floodgates to open. By half time the score was 40 points to nil.
Tries from Captain Cian Hynes, Luke Pollard, Chris Kiyingi, Evan Powell and man of the match T.J O'Sullivan saw Hendon open up a commanding lead with Jack Ryan having an excellent game with the boot only missing one conversion all day.
The second half saw three changes and with the game won Hendon took their foot of the gas. Still scores continued to come from Junior Farao, Toby Ikwueke, and influential number 8 Donal O'Sullivan.
The victory gives Hendon 69 League points out of a possible 70 and puts them 14 points clear of their nearest rivals as their goal of promotion moves one step nearer.
Commented Hendon’s coach Phil Smith "Uncontested scrums and a conceded game before kick off is not ideal, but we managed to give the whole squad a run out and two players making their debuts went well. We had a lot of ball and experimented with a few positions and moves for next week’s National Cup match and it gave me the opportunity to look at one or two things. With six of the Hendon squad rested or unavailable it shows how far we have come as a club to have such a competitive squad which will give me a selection headache for our next encounter”.
