Saturday 3rd October 2020
Mill Hill RFC 3 - 9 Hendon RFC
Mill Hill 2nds 4 - 15 Hendon 2nds
In the first quarter Hendon 1sts started convincingly to lead the home outfit by three tries to one but let the lead slip into the second quarter as Mill Hill took advantage of “anxious” play by Hendon with some poor handling allowing their local rivals m to take the initiative and score twice to close the score to 3 to 4.
Into the 3rd quarter Hendon took the advantage with an interception by Rossa Dooley to score Hendon’s next try, than forward moves from David Jenkins and Mick Culhane from defence allowing better handling skills to carry the ball into attack with Man of the Match Charlie Scarr on the wing adding to his 1st half try with 2 more for a hat-trick.
At the end of the third quarter Hendon were comfortably leading by 7 tries to 3. The last quarter gave Jack Ryan his 1st try with Hendon Captain Billy Burrell also getting his first score after a well worked interchange from Cian Hynes and JT Moncher, who had excelled in defence.
Hendon 2nds, captained by Ross Williams, scored 15 tries against Mill Hill 2nds who were outpaced by the visitors. Ross was full of praise for his Hendon outfit containing a number of new players who thoroughly enjoyed their experience with the R4R 10 player format to give Hendon another fine win and a 100% record in the Club League to date.
This Saturday Hendon were due to play Finchley at Copthall in the next round of R4R games, but it is with regret Finchley have retired from the competition but will be replaced with another local Club.
