Hendon RFC 54-10 Finsbury Park RFC

Man of the Match Cian Hynes Scores 29 Points To Celebrate His Birthday

Hendon playing up the slope in the first period saw Finsbury Park score first 0-5  from a driving maul mid-way through the period after dominating play without reward. From the restart, the home outfit got into their stride with interplay between forwards and backs finishing with the final move by Rich Roberts to Ciocan Dragos to score a Cian Hynes converted try 7-5. Park were back into attack but defended by Hendon to set up Faiz Mohamed  to run the field with Hynes touching down and converting to move Hendon to 14-5. On 35 mins Hendon’s Chris Kiyingi with captain Nick Andrews penetrated the Park defence to set up a rolling maul from their 22 to push over the goal line with scrum half Roberts scoring with Hynes completing at 21-5. Then perhaps the try of the match with Hynes collecting on half-way to jink left and right to avoid the defence before a deserved 2nd try 26-5 giving Hendon the bonus point before the interval.

Into the second period and again it was Park to take the first points from another forwards maul 26-10. Then mid field play with T J O’Sullivan along with fellow forwards James Yuille and Ted Arnold breaking through the defence with Kiyingi scoring a Hynes converted try going into the final quarter 33-10.

A classic backline move then followed with Mohamed to winger Harvey Brown to run the wing passing inside to Hynes with Josh Lowes on the final pass to score with Hynes converting 40-10.

On 35 mins Hendon’s set scrum now dominated pushing Park backwards and taking their ball against the head to set up another driving maul with David Jenkins finishing the move to score as Hynes converted 47-10. Park restarted into last play with Brown, making his Hendon debut, collected for a brilliant run from the Hendon 22 to the Park 22 with Hynes finishing for his hat-trick try and conversion to complete the game with 29 individual points of the final score-line of 54-10.

This Saturday Hendon are away to Royston
